Roof Repairs at Bedlam Theatre
Bedlam Theatre is now undergoing
extensive repairs targeting the roof
and stonework of the building
These are being carried out through the University of Edinburgh and are projected to take approximately six months. The building is still open to access and the workspaces are still usable if not otherwise stated.
While we realise the detrimental effect these repairs will have on building aesthetics, the works are beneficial to the long-term functioning of Bedlam. Adjustments will be made accordingly throughout the repairs process to keep Bedlam going as strongly as it has until now. In terms of health and safety, it is essential that both members and visitors respect the working hours of the constructors and do not interfere with any of the scaff structures.
Any questions regarding the matter can be directed to Lucy, Bedlam Theatre Manager, on theatre@bedlamtheatre.co.uk, who also apologizes on behalf of the University for any problems caused.

OPEN AUDITIONS: EASTER EDITION
Come to Bedlam's side door this Saturday and Sunday from 2-6 to stock up on all that auditioning you'll miss so much over Easter. The shows auditioning, to be staged in first semester of next year, are:
THE COUNTRY WIFE
by William Wycherley- Week 4
A smutty, bawdy, innuendo-laden comedy of manners, relationships and rampant sexuality. The script is racy and thick with intrigue, combining huge and hypocritical characters with detailed subplots that viciously mock the morals of the period. This production offers its cast an extremely exciting opportunity to approach the challenge of this energetic and flamboyant style of acting.
ACCIDENTAL DEATH OF AN ANARCHIST
by Dario Fo- Week 3
This political farce is a sharp and witty satire of police corruption in Italy. Just before Christmas in 1969, a bomb exploded in the Agricultural Bank of Milan; a few days later Giovanni Pinelli, an anarchist railway worker, flew out of a fourth floor window. In the unfurling investigation a web of corruption was discovered amongst the Italian judiciary; the very institution designed to protect society.
SPRING AWAKENING
after Frank Wedekind- Week 5
It’s gonna be stunningly beautiful. We’re gonna cram Teviot Debating Hall with all the beauty, tragedy, spirit and sadness of a group of kids dealing with love and death. We’ll be auditioning for 6 girls and 5 guys to form a super tight ensemble to completely devise and rewrite the show. We’re gonna rip up and rework and rejig and experiment with this play to create something vivid, exciting, fresh, intense and utterly appropriate for the time, venue, cast, company and most importantly, the audience.
No Experience or preperation necessary, just come to Bedlam's Red Side Door betrween 2 and 6pm this Saturday and Sunday.
Fringe workshop
This Saturday only, from 4-6pm, Mark Fisher (writer for the Guardian and former editor of the List) will be talking to us about putting on a show at the Fringe, based on his upcoming book The Edinburgh Fringe Survival Guide
