Welcome to the University of Edinburgh! Are you interested in theatre?
Keep an eye out on this page for Welcome Week news from the Edinburgh University theatre societies! It’ll have the most up to date information, so keep this page bookmarked.
We are the Theatre Company (Bedlam), EUSOG, Footlights, Shakespeare Company, Theatre Paradok, Les Escogriffes, Edinburgh Revue and Edinburgh Studio Opera. You can find out more about the different societies and how to join them on this page.
Here’s the link to our edi uni theatre societies welcome week facebook group, where we’ll be posting updates and event reminders, and you can ask any question you may have!
If you’d like to get more involved in EUTC/Bedlam and do stuff in person, the best way is to sign up for Bedlam Families! If you’re interested in tech, in addition to the main Bedlam families, there’s also Techie families, so be sure to sign up for that too!
If you’ve got any questions at all, please feel free to email [email protected]. We’ll be happy to help you out where we can!
We’ve made some changes to timing and making some events in-person, so be sure to check the programme below so you’re aware of the changes!
We are updating capacities for The Improverts Workshop and Introduction to Set, so if you want to sign up to those but it says sold out, just keep an eye out, it’ll hopefully change in a day or two!
If you have issues getting tickets, try signing in as “Public or Non-matriculated Student”. This especially applies to first year. Do not hesitate to contact us if you still run into trouble, however!
Note: The following events are cancelled. Due to covid safety regulations, we aren’t able to open our theatre to the public for welcome week, so these events can no longer happen. We’re trying to get EUSA to take them down from the website, but they haven’t done so yet. We’re really sorry for any inconvenience caused!
The events are: Bedlam Theatre Tour, The Improverts, Candlewasters Acting Workshop, The Exploration into the Importance of Truth in Theatre
Click on the event title and click on the button at the bottom (with text such as “Get Involved” or “Get Tickets”) to book a ticket. If you have any issues booking a ticket, please get in touch with the society that organises the event directly, or email [email protected]
A green tag means the event is held online
An orange tag means the event is held in person
Please note: Please wear/bring a mask to in-person events. We will also be asking attendees to follow the 2m rule where possible. Though not currently mandated by the government, we are doing this to make everyone feel as comfortable and safe as possible to allow everyone to take part in our events, and to decrease the transmission of the virus, especially during welcome week when you’ll likely come into contact with many other people.
