Auditions

The team for “Crave” by Sarah Kane are auditioning this Thursday and Friday from 2pm to 4pm. Come down to Bedlam. They are also accepting online auditions. Check the Facebook Event for more information.

Additionally, “Thamestown” and “Romeo and Jacob” will also be auditioning. More information on that later.

Future of Bedlam Meeting

There have been lots of conversation with the University and the Students’ Association over the past year to talk about the future of Bedlam Theatre, and thus, the EUTC and Bedlam Fringe. You may have heard that the University Estates Department was difficult with letting us reopen over the past year for covid reasons, and now deems it unlikely that the University will approve any renovations to Bedlam unless we give other student groups or the university more access to the building. In the near future, this is fine, but in the longer term this means the building will continue to deteriorate as the University has never spent any money on renovations and plans never came to fruition.

There is a lot more nuance, detail and history to it, so in week 7, we would like to organise a meeting to talk about the future of Bedlam, both to explain what is going on and to ask for your opinion This will be both include very long term things, towards 2030, and short-term planning (next year Fringe), so do come along whether you have been here for ages or have only just joined. It is important for us to hear as many voices as possible. No decisions will be made yet, this is just to kick off a conversation.

This meeting will be on Wednesday 2 November at 5pm in the Bedlam Cafe. Please come along, no matter how long you have been a member for!

Liberation Representatives - Nominations Extended

Nominations for Liberation Representatives are now open! There are 6 liberation representatives, representing the 6 groups in the EUTC. The positions open for nomination are rep for: Ethnic Minorities, LGBTQ+, Trans and Non-Binary people, Women, Anti-Elitism, and Disability.

They function as a contact point for their relevant group, organise projects to engage with the members of their group, and address representation issues of their groups with the committee.More information on the slides here.

Fill out this form to nominate yourself. Nominations are extended to Friday 28 October at 23:59.

Coffee Mornings

We are organising more coffee mornings! Come along next Saturday from 10am to midday for some free tea, coffee and biscuits in the Bedlam cafe. This is a chill environment to discuss theatre, any projects you might be working on, or just to socialise. if this is a success, we will organise a weekly coffee morning throughout the semester

Theatre Paradok is collaborating with The Edinburgh Futures Institute to bring you a night of Spooky Storytelling.

Edinburgh’s longest running improv troupe are back for another year! After a successful run at the 2022 Fringe and a great year performing at Assembly Roxy, the Imps can’t wait to get back on stage and have some fun back in Bedlam. Join them every Friday at 22:30 for an hour of short form improv, as always based entirely on audience suggestions.

With new players and new games, shows are always different, always funny! We can’t wait for you to come and have a laugh with The Improverts and celebrate another year of critically acclaimed improv!

Tickets: 8/5/4 pounds. Buy them here.

Maintenance and DM Training

This Sunday 12:00 to 14:00 we do Maintenance where tidy up the building and do small building improvements. Everyone is welcome to help, and we will provide you with snacks and a good playlist.

After Maintenance at 14:00 to 14:30 we have Duty Management (DM) Training. We will teach you how to run the building during a show, open the building, lock up the building, and what to do in case of a fire. There always needs to be at least one DM trained person present when the building is in use, so being DM Trained is very helpful for Production Team members, or if you are just interested in seeing how it works.
