Looking for 7 actresses to play a cow for each performance of “Betsy and Patty Find Out” at Bedlam Fringe. No rehearsals. Blocking will be explained half an hour before showtime (19:30) out on the pavement, but basically you’ll be standing in a line and every six minutes a sound effect plays of a man calling “Next!” and the cow at the front of the line exits to the lobby, and everyone moves up one space.
Every actress gets to make up their own personality and react how they like to what’s happening on the stage behind them. At one point very early on they’re asked if they know what they’re in line for and they all get to respond however they like as long as the answer is a variation of “no”.
The actresses will be different for every show, and anyone that wants to spend less time onstage can be closer to the front of the line, which means they get to exit sooner. The last cow will be onstage for 45 minutes or so. The first cow will be onstage just for pre-show while the audience is entering. The first thing that happens in the show is the “Next!” Line is called and the first cow exits.
Costumes will be handed out when we get into the theater, they’re coveralls that go over whatever you’re wearing (but try for black and white clothes underneath), and black shoes are best.
