Hello!
Hope you are all well and midterms haven’t been crushing your soul.
In this newsletter you will find tickets to this week’s show, Slash, as well as the Improverts’ Friday show and a HalfBaked performance.
We also have auditions for our Week 10 Freshers Slots, as well as a signup to be on the BedFest team, and information about our next GM!
Freya and Emily (EUTC Presidents)
Our next GM is happening this Wednesday (1st Nov). Be there to vote for the first half of our Sem 1 shows, Liberation Reps, and Company Welfare Contacts!
Signups will begin at 3pm in Bedlam Auditorium, with the GM hopefully starting at 3:30 as long as there are no technical difficulties (fingers crossed).
Be sure to wrap up warm, bring a cup of tea, and I hope to see you there!
Slash is a stylised pressure cooker black comedy that draws upon the tropes of dark academia, murder mysteries, horror and highschool movies, to explore themes of friendship, secrecy, and revenge. The play follows three friends and one stranger, Danny, Tom, Billie and Alex, who find themselves locked into the boys’ toilets at a school reunion. What initially seems like an amusing coincidence quickly turns into something sinister, when the foursome discover the murdered body of another of their school friends, along with a clue to a dark and hidden event from their past. Realising it is no accident that they have all been trapped, the only way to unravel the mystery of the present is to delve into one from their past. As they are forced to dig up things that they had long since tried to bury, tensions rise and lifelong friendships are tested. It might not just be their relationships that do not survive the experience.

This halfBaked Halloween, come and sink your teeth into Bram Stoker’s fang-tastic tale. This play has everything: romance, horror, adventure, and…cowboys?
It’s spooky. It’s scary. It’s silly. It’s halfBled: DRACULA.
In true halfBaked style, not all performers will be off book. There will be (fully) baked goods provided with every ticket, so BYOB, and join us for a bloody good time!

Di, Viv and Rose
This Monday and Tuesday, we will be holding auditions for one of our Freshers Slots plays ‘Di, Viv and Rose’, which will be happening on Wed 22nd November. It’ll be very chill, open auditions so please do come along if you’re interested!
Di Viv and Rose is a comedy that follows the lives of three friends from their university days during the early 1980s, through to their adulthood. It’s a play about female friendship, as we watch them through their many successes and hardships.
Info about the auditions can be found on our Facebook group, where the audition pack is linked. https://www.facebook.com/groups/bedlamtheatre202324/permalink/882006393632545
Bedfest - its back!
Bedfest is Bedlam’s annual theatre festival, this year it’s being held in week 3 of semester 2. It’s a celebration of who we are as a company and an oppurtunity for a new cohort of people to run the building for a week and put on as many shows as we physically can!
You can read all about it here: https://wiki.bedlamtheatre.co.uk/en/shows/bedfest
We are looking for the following roles:
Accountant, Archivist, Box Office Manager, Cafe Manager, Marketing Manager, Production Co-Ordinator, Programmer, Stage Manager (Props), Set Manager, Tech Manager, Venue Manager, Wardrobe Manager
If you’re interested in any of these, please drop Freya Game a message on Facebook or email [email protected]
Every Sunday 12:00 to 14:00 we do Maintenance where we tidy up the building and make some small building improvements. Everyone is welcome to help, we provide you with snacks and a good playlist.
If you have worked on a show you need to come to maintenance to tidy up after your show. If you do not, you will go into Maintenance Debt. You can clear this by coming to another Maintenance Session or talking to Lewis Eggeling (Theatre Manager). Similarly you will need to staff a show (or two if you did a mainterm) in exchange for other members staffing your show. You can sign up at
https://www.bedlamtheatre.co.uk/admin/staffings
If you have any questions please contact Luca Stier at [email protected]
After Maintenance we have Duty Management (DM) training from 14:00 to 14:30. During this time, we will teach you how to run the building during a show, open and lock up the building, and what to do in case of a fire. Theatre always needs to be at least one DM trained person present when the building is in use, so being DM trained is very helpful for Production Team members!
