“The Wickedest Man in the World “ proved to be Raptus Theatre Company’s last production, although Wallace, who had also played Macbeth in David Campton’s production. went on to direct the rarely performed Shakespeare play, “ Pericles, Prince of Tyre “ in 1990, in which everyone seemed to get more excited at turning the theatre into the round than in actually producing really memorable performances.

“Pericles. “ was the major production of the academic year 1989- 1990, and was symptomatic of the way in which E.U.T.C. had changed. Sponsorship began to be considered, and costings and budgets started to dominate Committee thinking. The amount that E.U.T.C. was willing to commit to a major production was now less in real terms than in 1980.
