It’s the 1980’s in Thatcher’s Britain and Caryl Churchill aims to answer the question can women really have it all. Marlene, head of her militant London employment agency ‘top girls’ sits at the epicentre of the play and the collage of women who struggle to keep within the boundaries of what it means to be the right type of woman. ‘Top Girls’ brazenly lays out the sacrifices of an era where equality was a hope not an expectation opening both the stage and social curtain on the injustices and consequences of this moral dilemma. Thus the question remains do you have what it takes to be a ‘top girl’?
