Playwriting Workshop: Action to Start

Theatre is action! In this workshop, we will discuss the importance of on-stage action. We will explore how on-stage action can inform character, reveal character motivations, and create tangible conflicts in a scene.

We will conduct a writing exercise together, and participants will be able to have their work read aloud and receive feedback from their peers.

Scott Strom (they/them) is a playwright and poet with a BA in Writing for Performance and Creative Writing (Poetry) from Columbia College Chicago. They are currently working toward their MSc in Playwriting from the University of Edinburgh. They are the author of the poetry chapbook “god’s afterdrips” and their poetry has been published in Barrow Street, Rattle, SAND, and Into the Void.
