“Gerry Adams has disguised himself as a new-born baby and successfully infiltrated my family home.”
The EUTC is delighted to invite you to ‘Cyprus Avenue’ by David Ireland. This absurd dark comedy follows Belfast Loyalist Eric Miller as he becomes convinced that his Protestant heritage is under attack from his infant granddaughter. While his family and therapist encourage him to look to the future, Eric cannot tear himself away from the past and his cultural duty.
David Ireland’s subversive drama is especially relevant to a society agonising over its identity and this blackest of comedy will entertain and shock in equal measure.
Content Warnings: violent death, racial slurs, suicide, domestic violence.
