David Campton’s production of “ Macbeth” seemed, as I wrote above, to mark the end of a particularly fruitful era, during which a variety of talents had been displayed in a number of innovative and pioneering productions. Although in this particular instance I felt that an undue emphasis on the supernatural elements of the text obscured the more classical aspects of the tragedy, in that the third witch became one of the murderer shired byMacbeth, nevertheless it was a fine example of the standard that E.U.T.C. were capable of at this time.
