Acting Basics: Objective & Actioning

A workshop for actors of all experience levels and none! Using the foundational techniques of objective and actioning, you’ll hone your skills in breaking down a scene so you never have to question “what’s my motivation” again. In this two hour workshop you’ll learn and apply these methods of active character building and discovery through textual and character analysis, then put your ideas on their feet and share your work with the group through the semi-rehearsed performance of classical and contemporary scenes.

Facilitated by professional actor Rebecca Mahar, this workshop is designed for participants of any experience level, whether you’re approaching the stage for the first time, or are an old hand looking for a technical refresh. No preparation is required: all materials will be provided, and there’s no expectation of memorization during the workshop. Come prepared to move, think big thoughts, have strong ideas, and activate your acting choices with the power of needs, desires, and verbs.
