Rebecca Mahar

Rebecca is a multi-hyphenate, award-winning theatre artist, educator, and scholar. She holds Bachelors degrees in Theatre and History, a diploma in Classical Acting from LAMDA, Master of Fine Arts degrees in Acting and Lighting Design, and is currently pursuing her PhD in European Theatre. Additionally, she is recognized as an Advanced Actor-Combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors, and a Consent-Forward Artist with Intimacy Directors & Coordinators. She is currently in the process of completing internationally-recognized certification as an Intimacy Director with IDC.

Becca has extensive professional experience as an actor, fight director, intimacy director, and lighting designer, among other areas. She has worked in all these areas as a teaching artist for many years, in professional, community, and academic settings. Her most recent academic appointment prior to relocating to Edinburgh in 2023 was as lecturer in Stage Combat at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. She currently teaches workshops throughout the Edinburgh theatre community, and works as a tutor in the Department of English Literature and Edinburgh Futures Institute at Edinburgh Uni.
